~Mod Modesty Monday: An Edwardian Summer:~

~This outfit is by no means authentic, the blouse I found recently for a mere $0.50 at a thrift store, and the skirt is one my mother picked up when we lived in Scotland and has been in the family for eighteen years now. (I have so many fond memories of this skirt...) I paired them together with a parasol, cameo watch, and Edwardian hair style (created with actual "hair rats" and a million bobby pins :), to create a Beatrix Potter feel. And my sister graciously consented to take the photos, even when I came up with the crazy scheme of sneaking into our neighbors yard and taking pictures under their beautiful tree, literally bursting with pink blooms! I wish I knew what kind of tree it is, if anyone has an idea I'd love to know!

~Have a lovely week!

Thanks! It was fun taking them...

My Father is military, so, we were once deployed to Scotland! Unfortunately I was quite a young thing and don't remember all that much! It is nice that some of my earliest memories are associated with castles and lochs though...

I've been having that same crazy thought of sneaking into my neighbor's yard, too. Their lawn is always in top condition and their shrubbery is so beautiful. Thing is, their house is for sale but I could never figure out who is doing their lawn if nobody is living there. As you can tell, I'm still seriously debating whether I should take photos there. :)

That blouse is a cheap find! Nice shots, too.

Cheri - I have been contemplating doing a hair tutorial some time when I have time! It would be fun...

I so love the Edwardian styles! Great job on photos and hair! =]
Have you seen the movie Miss Potter? You probably have, but I thought I'd mention it as not... It is a vision of loveliness!

Samantha - Thanks! I still haven't discovered what kind it is, but I'd like to know too!

Anneliese - Thank you! I'm hoping to eventually post a hair tutorial if I can find time!

Marguerite - I did see "Miss Potter" and it was very much in mind while I was doing this post! It was such a sweet movie. Thanks for all the compliments too!

Hi Lauren,

What beautiful pictures.
I love the outfit-the skirt, the shoes, and the blouse.

That hair style is a favorite of mine. I just wish I had more time in the morning to to "do" my hair.I usually just end up twisting and clipping it :)

Have a lovely day.
