Day 5 - Modest Fashion Challenge

~I know that I must have gone to bed and smacked my head against something last night, because I'm completely loony to be putting these photos of me in my grandmothers jumpsuit online! The truth is, I love jumpsuits, rompers, overalls, and all sorts of one piece pants/shirt combinations! (Much to the chagrin of some of the members of my dear family.) But I know not everyone does, so, if this was a little too odd just disregard it as the "interesting" but truly ridiculous attire of one young lady on one blog in one corner of the blogosphere!

~I actually took these pictures awhile ago, and never got around to posting them - just so you know! And I'm sorry they don't have some sort of flower in them. (I remembered after the first post that I was supposed to do a flower! Oops...)

~Well, this is the end of Samantha's wonderful fashion week! I really enjoyed myself looking at all the other young ladies entries - which were inspiring and marvelous, and its been fun sharing a bit of my wardrobe with others too! BUT, don't go anywhere because....

I've decided to do a five day posting marathon on the subject of inward beauty next week.

~It's important to be well adorned in spirit, as well as modest feminine attire - and as I was thinking about this last week I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun and encouraging to do a week of posts on the heart now?" That way I cover both areas in my life - the outward and the inward. Its been so much fun "linking" up (literally!) with many other young ladies online through this, and I've "met" some really lovely girls, lovely in spirit and attitude, which got me contemplating the fact that I wish I knew some of you "for real". But even while thinking this I know that we have a common bond, our faith in Christ. So even if we never meet in person - we can encourage one another in our relationship with the Lord by what we say and write on our blogs. (And I have been encouraged this week as I not only looked at your outfit posts, but browsed a bit into your past posts and saw some truly lovely examples of girls in love with their Savior!)

~So, in conclusion, I'm going to try to do a series of posts next week (Lord willing, if I have time!) on "adorning the heart". I hope to include links to blogs, posts, and websites, that have encouraged me in this area, as well as some thoughts of my own, and perhaps a few "artsy" pictures to compliment the topics addressed :) If any of you want to join me, whether its by leaving a comment or doing a post of your own, I'd be delighted!

~I hope you've had a wonderful week! And that you have a wonderful weekend!

I personally think they look kind of cute. =)

Just so you know, there is one more day ( tomorrow, which is Saturday) of my Fashion Week, so feel free to either stop here or do tomorrow as well. =)

I think you are safely sane and those who think you are loony are so themselves. :D Your outifit is so nicely done...my first thought as I saw the post was, "Now THAT is elegant." Love the hat and pearls!!!

I think SOME of the homeschooled kids are the smartest people in the country. Anyway, I am going to be homeschooling my sons and think perhaps I can somehow create yearbooks for them when they are older out of shutterfly books (if they still exist then) and they can have people sign them. . . do you think you would have liked something like that being a homeschooled person?

I agree with you. I have a few modest friends, most aren't fashion-interested at all. It would be so nice to actually meet other modest ladies (especially Christians so there is more depth to the conversations had about life).

You look fabulous.

Nice outfit!! Hey, I think you look great in it, even if others in your family don't. ;) I just love your scarves!!! Where do you get them?????

Thanks for following my blog, by the way. :)

In Christ,

OH! Yes, I can't wait for the week of posts! Should be really good reads!

Hey Victoria,

That's really nice that you'll be homeschooling your sons, with the way schools are these days, I'm sure they will grow up to thank you for it! I know I'd not want it otherwise for myself, and thats what I want for my children - but know that God works in all sorts of ways in peoples lives, "homeschooling" is not the "surefire" answer and savior many people make it out to be, only God can work in a child's heart to be saved!

Hmmm, I think your sons would appreciate year books -or at least some sort of way of looking back at their years of education! Its always fun to look back, see pictures, and remember the things you learned that year! I actually made my own "History" Scrapbooks over my teen years. It was a lot of fun to combine pictures of the things we did along with all sorts of cute paper, project notes, etc... to make a more unique chronicle of my journey! Now its an heirloom I'll have forever, to pass down to my kids :)

Sarah,

Thanks for the comment! I get the scarves here and there, mostly second hand stores though! I really like mixing and matching them with outfits!

I hope people will enjoy my posts next week - though I can't guarantee that they'll be all that good! Just sincere words from my heart to yours, to encourage others as I've been encouraged by others :)

Blessings,
~Lauren

Hi Lauren,
Is it ok if I use one of your pictures for the Fashion Week voting on Monday? I was thinking about using one of the pictures from Day 1. Just let me know if this is ok!
Thanks!
